How to add Relevant Books To My Web Site?

Relevant Books is a simple way to add an ever-changing set of relevant and attractive Amazon affiliate ads to your website. See the Relevant Books home page for general information and to understand the advantages of the service.

Relevant Books can be added to a web page by inserting the following lines of HTML:

The parameters are as follows:

Parameter	Meaning
arl_ad_format	'120x650' or '120x650R'. An Ad 120 pixels wide and 600 pixels high, the latter being right aligned. '120x600' or '120x600R'. An Ad 120 pixels wide and 600 pixels high, the latter being right aligned. 'text' - a Text only ad. See the Relevant Books FAQ to see what they look like. Currently we suggest '120x650', as Amazon images appear to be getting larger. More values may be added in the future.
arl_ad_width	'500'. (Text ads only). Width of ad should be 500 pixels.
arl_ad_height	'600'. (Text ads only). Height of ad should be 600 pixels. Text ads are currently only practical at the end of a page, as empty space will be added to make the ad take up the right amount of vertical space.
arl_ad_bgcolor	eg. '#E6E6E6'. The Background color of the ad, normally chosen to be the same as the background color of your website.
arl_ad_like	e.g. '0596005423'. The ISBN of the book which is most relevant for that page. This book and others similar to it will be displayed. You can also specify two ISBN numbers separated by commas.
arl_ad_com	Your associate Id for Amazon.com. Omit this line if you do not have one.
arl_ad_uk	Your associate Id for Amazon.co.uk Omit this line if you do not have one.
arl_ad_ca	Your associate Id for Amazon.ca Omit this line if you do not have one.
arl_ad_fr	Your associate Id for Amazon.fr Omit this line if you do not have one.
arl_ad_de	Your associate Id for Amazon.de Omit this line if you do not have one.
arl_ad_jp	Your associate Id for amazon.co.jp Omit this line if you do not have one.

Although Amazon now supports web services to all the above sites, we have found that in practice only amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, and amazon.de give reliable results for English language books. These sites are therefore used to generating links to other Amazons.

Note. According to Amazon, some books are unlike any others. If you select one of these (or choose an ISBN not listed by Amazon) then the book listings will not appear. Also if Amazon web services are busy, the book listings may not appear. If nothing seems to be working either (a) try a different ISBN for the arl_ad_like parameter, or (b) wait a while until the services are no longer busy.

We don't require that you ask permission to use this service, but but we do ask that you use ourcontact form to let us know. Otherwise we can't let you know if any changes to the service might affect you. Obviously if we ask you to stop, we expect you to stop.
